Tragedy struck during the renowned London to Brighton Bike Ride as a cyclist lost their life. On the morning of Sunday, July 19th, Surrey Police received a call at 09:56 on June 18th from the South East Coast Ambulance service. The call reported a medical emergency on Redehall Road, involving a cyclist participating in the event.
Regrettably, the cyclist, identified as a man in his sixties, tragically passed away at the scene. Surrey Police promptly notified the cyclist’s next of kin.
In response to the incident, road closures were swiftly implemented in the affected area. Event Marshalls took immediate action, redirecting the route for the remaining cyclists to ensure their safety and the smooth continuation of the event.
