Kayak-tastrophe! Newhaven RNLI makes a splash on ‘Saving Lives at Sea’

As the eighth season of ‘Saving Lives at Sea’ makes its return to BBC2 this Thursday, Newhaven RNLI steps into the spotlight in the second episode, airing on Thursday, October 5th at 8 pm. This captivating episode unravels the gripping narrative of a kayaker’s fishing expedition gone awry.

Situated at the forefront of maritime rescue, Newhaven RNLI’s state-of-the-art lifeboat station is no stranger to a diverse array of distress calls. In the current month alone, Newhaven’s All-weather Lifeboat, the Severn-class vessel, has been summoned to respond to ten separate incidents.

Throughout the month of September, Newhaven Lifeboat’s gallant crew has been called upon to address a series of challenging situations, including extinguishing a fire with four individuals and a faithful canine companion aboard, aiding a 25-meter fishing trawler stranded in the busy shipping lanes of the Channel, assisting a storm-damaged yacht taking on water in the Cuckmere area, rescuing walkers imperiled by the rising tide, and launching a determined search operation to locate a missing swimmer.

Once more, the dedicated volunteers of Newhaven Lifeboat will take center stage in this latest installment of ‘Saving Lives at Sea.’ This episode will feature interviews with key figures, including Alex Beckett, James Johnson, and Lewis Arnold, who serves as the Coxswain of the crew.
