Live from Crawley Magistrates Court as Constance Marten, 35 and Mark Gordon, 48 appear before magistrates

The couple arrived at Crawley Magistrates’ Court after being held at separate police stations in Sussex.

Mark Gordon sat in the dock with a smile, wearing a grey t-shirt over his head. He mouthed, “I love you. Get my prison number and write to me from my solicitor.”

Constance Martethen joined him in the dock, wearing a grey t-shirt and rubber bands in her hair.

An application was made for the pair to be remanded in custody as the case was set to be sent up to the Crown Court.

When questioned by the police, they refused to answer any questions.

The camp they had been staying in was found in an overgrown plot in the Brighton area.

Inside the shed, several black bags were found, and upon further investigation, the police discovered the body of a baby.

NO application has been made for the couple’s bail.

The case is set to be heard again at the Old Bailey on Friday, March 31.

The couple have been charged with Concealing the birth of a child, Perverting the course of justice and Gross negligence manslaughter

The couple has returned to the Dock

The Magistrates’ chairwoman Carol Lintott said, “The case is being sent to the Crown Court a the Old Bailey and both will be remanded in Custody and bail will not be granted.”

The Hearing has now ended and the two have been taken into Custody.
