No trains in Sussex today and Friday due to Train drivers Stike

Train drivers from the union ASLEF have walked out today. They will again on Friday over pay and conditions after rejecting an offer made to them by the Rail Delivery Group back in January.

GTR rail said, “National industrial action is taking place on today & 3 February, NO trains will run on these days. On 2 & 4 February, our trains will start much later than usual. Make sure you plan ahead at nationalrail.co.uk.”

General Secretary Mick Whelan comments:

“It’s now clear to our members, and the public, that this was never about reform or modernisation but an attempt to get hundreds of millions of pounds of productivity for a 20% pay cut while taking away any hope of the union having any say in the future.

“It is time the companies – encouraged, perhaps, by the government – sat down with us and got serious.

“That is the way – and the only way – to end this dispute.”

Picket lines were held in Sussex at Eastbourne, Brighton and Three Bridges.
