Police Appeal for Witnesses After String of Night-Time Burglaries in Brighton and Hove

Four homes targeted in burglaries over two-week period, with cash and electronics stolen.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a series of night-time burglaries in Brighton and Hove. Over a two-week span, between 21 August and 4 September, four homes in Castle Street and Kensington Place, Brighton, as well as Lansdowne Road and New Church Road, Hove, were broken into. The burglaries occurred during the early hours, with cash, electronic devices, and mobile phones stolen from the properties.

It is believed that the intruder may have gained access through open ground-floor windows or by climbing scaffolding present at some of the properties.

Detective Inspector Sharon Ford, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are linking these burglaries and are eager to hear from any witnesses who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in these areas. We have increased patrols in the affected neighbourhoods and urge residents to secure their homes by keeping windows and doors closed, especially if there is scaffolding on the building.”

Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is encouraged to report it online or call 101, quoting serial 175 of 27/08. In the event of a crime in progress, dial 999.
