Police Seek Five Suspects Following Distraction Theft in Brighton

Police are seeking information regarding a distraction theft that took place at a Harvester restaurant in Madeira Drive, Brighton, on August 18 at around 1 pm. This incident involved two women who had just visited a bank on North Street, Brighton, and were carrying a significant amount of cash. During their time in the restaurant, it is suspected that a group orchestrated a distraction involving the spilling of a liquid, which led to the theft of the cash.

New CCTV footage has been released by the police, showing individuals they are interested in speaking with concerning this incident. The first individual is an Asian man in his 30s with short dark hair, dressed in a white hooded top, jeans, and carrying a black backpack. The second individual is an Asian man in his 40s with dark hair, wearing a black flat cap, green jumper, grey trousers, dark shoes, and also carrying a black backpack. The third individual is a man in his 40s, seen wearing glasses, a black baseball cap, a blue and white striped polo shirt, blue jeans, and carrying a black backpack. The fourth individual is an Asian man wearing glasses, a black puffer-style jacket, and jeans. Lastly, the fifth individual is a woman in her 50s or 60s, dressed in a white blouse and black jacket, black trousers, and a light blue sun hat that covered her face, along with a black handbag and a light blue tote bag.

Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses, anyone who can identify these individuals, or anyone with information related to the incident to contact them online or by calling 101, quoting the reference number 1015 of 18/08/2023.
