Thousands gather for Brighton Trans Pride 2023

Trans Pride Brighton 2023, the largest Trans Pride event outside of America, took place yesterday on July 15th. Each year since 2013, the event has hosted the largest protest for trans liberation in Europe, with over 10,000 people attending.

However, this year’s event faced some disruption due to extreme weather conditions. The organizers were forced to change venues for the park event in Brunswick Square to various venues in Central Brighton for the safety of performers, vendors, volunteers and attendees. The planned route for the protest march was also changed.

Trans Pride Brighton is a grass-roots, community-led organization run by a team of volunteers. Their aim is to inspire all trans, intersex, gender variant and queer people to help make a real difference by celebrating trans lives and gender diversity. They aim to educate and eliminate discrimination by promoting equality and diversity through visibility while also celebrating their unique history.

The organization has suffered significant financial losses this year and a low turnout poses a threat to Trans Pride Brighton. They will be unable to keep the Trans Pride Centre located on St James Street, Brighton, open as well as continue with their events and protests in the coming year if they do not raise significant funds this year.
