Two People Treated After Fire at a Bar in Brighton

Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a hose reel to extinguish the fire.

Emergency services were mobilised just before 11am today (9 February 2025) after a fire broke out in the kitchen of the Eagle Bar in Brighton.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) confirmed they received a call at 10:56am reporting the fire at the public house on Gloucester Road.

Fire crews swiftly attended the scene, using breathing apparatus and a hose reel to extinguish a small kitchen fire. A positive pressure ventilation (PPV) fan was also deployed to clear smoke from the building.

Two individuals were assessed and handed into the care of the ambulance service. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.

ESFRS confirmed that the fire was accidental in nature.
