Video: Mod Squad goes eggs-tra mile for children’s hospital and charity

Brighton was the place to be for Mods over the weekend, as Mods Aid 2023 took place with over 100 Mods turning out for the event. The Mods came together to deliver over 200 Easter eggs to the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital before descending on Brighton Seafront for a weekend of fund raising, fun, music, and socialising.

The Mods Aid Weekender featured an afternoon event at the Concord 2, where people had the chance to sit on a piece of history- Roger Daltrey’s Vespa GS160 from the 1996 Earls Court Quadrophenia Show, where Billy Idol played Bell Boy. The event raised money for the Sussex Homeless Support and the Teenage Cancer Trust, a charity that Roger Daltrey is keen to support.

Gary Shail best known for his roles as Spider in the 1979 film Quadrophenia was at the event and can be seen below sitting on Roger Daltrey’s Vespa GS160.

The Concord 2 was filled with the sound of live music from seven bands, including Who’s Next, The Chords UK, Sharp Class, The Soniks, Cian Downing, Dirt Royal, and Phoenix Road. In addition, there was a Mod Market where people could find memorabilia stalls, vintage clothing, and a fashion show. It was a chance for people to show off their best Mod gear and strut their stuff.

There was also a Scooter Show, where people could admire some of the most beautiful scooters around, and the chance to win trophies. The event was a true celebration of Mod culture, and it brought together people from all over the UK and beyond.

Speaking about the event Stuart D-Clarke told Sussex News said: “It was fantastic to see so many people come together to support such worthy causes. The Mods community has always been about having fun, but we also take pride in raising money for charity. It’s great to see the community coming together for such a worthwhile event.”
