A major rescue operation took place at approximately 4:30 pm today, April 11, 2023, after reports of a person spotted in the water just west of Brighton Marina. The response involved a Coastguard rescue helicopter from Solent, lifeboats from Brighton and Shoreham, Coastguard teams from Shoreham and Newhaven, Sussex Police, and the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb).
A Coastguard spokeswoman provided information about the rescue, stating, “HM Coastguard has been responding to an incident in the Brighton Pier area this afternoon. Just after 4:30 pm, Coastguard rescue teams from Brighton and Shoreham, a Shoreham lifeboat, and the Coastguard helicopter from Lee-on-the-Solent were sent to the scene.”
