
Police are continuing their investigation into a tragic collision on the A26 at Herons Ghyll on Wednesday, 5 February, after one of the drivers was sadly confirmed deceased.
Emergency services were called to the scene near Uckfield at around 2:45 pm following reports of a two-vehicle collision.
According to initial reports, a white Hyundai i10 travelling southbound collided with a blue Hyundai Ioniq heading in the opposite direction.
The driver of the Hyundai i10, a 25-year-old local woman, was transported to the hospital but, tragically, succumbed to her injuries. Her next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.
The driver of the Hyundai Ioniq, a 64-year-old local man, sustained minor injuries and has since been discharged from the hospital.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and are appealing to the public for any relevant information.
Police are particularly keen to hear from witnesses or anyone with CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage of the collision or the vehicles leading up to the incident.
