
Police have arrested a third person in connection with the fatal stabbing of a woman in Bexhill on Wednesday, February 12.
Emergency services were called just after 10pm to Bayencourt South following reports of a woman being stabbed at her home. The victim, 58-year-old Rita Lambourne, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to her injuries.
Family Tribute
Rita’s family issued a heartfelt tribute, stating:
“Rita was a much-loved member of the community and was adored by her family and friends. Rita’s family would be extremely grateful for any information that can be offered and would like to request privacy at this difficult time.”
Arrests and Investigation Update
A 39-year-old woman from Bexhill was initially arrested on suspicion of murder, while a 32-year-old man from Bexhill was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both have since been released on conditional bail.
As part of ongoing enquiries, a third suspect, a 48-year-old man from Bexhill, has now been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. Authorities have confirmed that all three individuals were known to the victim.

Detective Chief Inspector Alex Campbell, leading the investigation, said:

“We continue to appeal for anyone with information to come forward. Were you in the Bayencourt South area between 8pm and 10pm on February 12? Did you see or hear anything unusual? Even if it seems insignificant, your information could be crucial to our investigation.”
