At 7.01pm on Saturday, 19th August, Hastings Coastguard, in collaboration with HM Coastguard-Bexhill and the Hastings RNLI, responded to a call regarding a potential individual in distress off the Hastings seafront.
Both teams promptly arrived at the scene. After executing a thorough visual assessment of the region and coordinating with the lifeboat for a shoreline inspection, it was determined that the alert was a false alarm.

However, the member of the public who saw the object did the correct thing by dialling 999 and asking for the COASTGUARD. We are the coastal emergency service and if you see anyone in difficulty or anyone who might be in difficulty along the coast do not hesitate to dial 999 and ask for the COASTGUARD”
