Armed police responded to a disturbance in Newhaven on Valley Road Sunday afternoon, 22nd October, causing a temporary traffic standstill.

Dramatic footage shared with Sussex News captured the armed police at a residential property where a person was detained.

A Sussex police spokesperson said “Police were called to Valley Road in Newhaven on Sunday (22 October) to reports of a person being threatened.

A local man was arrested and remains in custody at this time.”
