This afternoon, HM Coastguard was alerted to a diver who had failed to resurface and was subsequently reported missing. The diver was expected to resurface around 1:10 PM, but when this did not occur, a search operation was initiated.
The Coastguard launched a search effort at approximately 1:45 PM, involving multiple rescue teams. The Hastings RNLI ALB lifeboat was launched alongside a Coastguard helicopter from Lydd. The operation was later joined by a Coastguard Aircraft Eastbourne lifeboat, Dungeness lifeboat, and the Pett Level Independent Lifeboat.
A spokesperson for HM Coastguard stated, “A search for a missing diver, involving Hastings RNLI inshore lifeboat, a Coastguard helicopter, and a Coastguard fixed-wing aircraft, as well as vessels in the area, is currently ongoing off Hastings.”
As of 10 PM, the search continues, and no further information is available regarding the diver’s whereabouts. Authorities are committed to the search and rescue efforts and urge anyone with information to contact HM Coastguard immediately.
