Firefighters battle blaze at Jevington Road, Wannock

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service responded to a fire at an agricultural building on Jevington Road, Wannock at approximately 6:33 pm on March 31st, 2023. The incident was reported by local residents who noticed smoke and flames coming from the area.

Upon arrival, four fire engines and officers discovered that a barn used as stables was well ablaze. It is believed that the fire started in a generator, but investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause.

Thankfully, all animals were released and accounted for, ensuring that no harm came to them. To extinguish the blaze, crews used breathing apparatus, jets, and firefighting foam.

The incident was brought under control by 7:45 pm, and firefighters remained on the scene to dampen down the area. A re-inspection will take place tomorrow morning at 8:00 am to ensure that the area is safe.

Local residents are advised to avoid the area until further notice and an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
