Updated: Four Seriously Injured in A267 Crash Involving Sewage Tanker and Ford Focus

Emergency services respond to serious car and lorry accident near Heathfield.

olice are investigating a serious collision that occurred on the A267 at Cross in Hand early Tuesday morning, 1 October. Officers are urging anyone with information or footage to come forward as they continue their inquiries.

The collision, which took place around 7:00 am near the junction with Mayfield Flat, involved a northbound sewage tanker and a southbound black Ford Focus. The four occupants of the car sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment. The driver of the tanker was unharmed.

Authorities have closed the road in both directions to facilitate recovery operations and a thorough forensic investigation. The closure is expected to last for several hours. Diversion signs have been put in place, and the public has been thanked for their patience and understanding.

In an effort to gather as much information as possible, police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, especially those who may have passed the scene without stopping, to assist. Officers are particularly interested in dash cam or mobile phone footage from vehicles traveling in the area at the time.
