This afternoon emergency services Eastbourne Inshore lifeboat, Local Coastguard teams, Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service, Coastguard rescue Helicopter 163, and KSS Air Ambulance were all mobilised to the beach in Eastbourne on Royal Parade to reports of a person in the water.
Eastbourne RNLI inshore lifeboat was quickly on the scene along with the Coastguard helicopter from Lydd and located the casualty.
The casualty was taken swiftly to awaiting Medics and Coastguard on the beach where primary care was carried out before being airlifted to a Hospital in London.
Eastbounre RNLI said ” Our Volunteer Crew were paged Monday 27th February at
14.00 hrs. They were requested to launch the Inshore Lifeboat and tasked to reports of a person in the water off Eastbourne Seafront.
Once on scene, the casualty was recovered onto the lifeboat where lifesaving casualty care was started. The lifeboat then took the casualty ashore where the casualty was transferred into the care of awaiting emergency services personnel.”
A spokesperson from South East Coast Ambulance Service said “A person was treated at the scene before being airlifted to a hospital in London in a life-threatening condition.”
