Police Arrest Man After Armed Robbery in Berwick

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Video Footage of the Robbery

Police have arrested a 52-year-old man from Seaford following an armed robbery in Berwick this afternoon (October 17). Officers were called to Berwick Post Office on Station Road at approximately 3 PM after receiving reports of a robbery.

The suspect fled the scene, and an investigation was immediately launched. Hours later, police apprehended the man, who is also suspected of possessing a firearm. He remains in custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Steve Shimmons stated that no other suspects are being sought at this time. “The investigation is ongoing, but we are not currently looking for anyone else in connection to the robbery.”

Police have assured the community that there will be an increased presence in the area throughout the night for reassurance. “I’d like to thank residents for their patience during the initial stages of this incident,” Shimmons added.

The main road through the village, which had been closed for several hours, has since reopened. Authorities are urging anyone with information or video footage related to the robbery to contact the police via their website or by calling 101, quoting incident number 791 from today.
