Search Continues for Missing Eastbourne Woman, 68

Brigid Last Seen Walking Along Eastbourne Promenade

Police are continuing their search for 68-year-old Brigid, who has now been missing for 11 days. She was last seen at 9:52 a.m. on January 6, walking along the promenade near the Beach Deck in Eastbourne. Authorities are appealing to the public for information to help locate her.

Last Known Movements

Brigid was captured on CCTV walking along the promenade, passing other walkers, including a dog walker with a large yellow dog. It is believed she may have briefly spoken to someone during her walk. She was last seen wearing a distinctive red duffle-style coat with the hood up, blue jeans, and blue trainers. Brigid is described as slim, with greying blonde hair and blue eyes.

Ongoing Search Efforts

Since her disappearance, Sussex Police have conducted extensive searches across Eastbourne, including house-to-house enquiries and systematic searches by specially trained officers. The operation has been a priority for local authorities, with officers working around the clock to follow all possible leads.

Detective Inspector Pippa Nicklin expressed gratitude for the public’s assistance so far and urged anyone who may have seen Brigid on January 6 or since to come forward. “Brigid’s red coat is very distinctive and may jog someone’s memory. We particularly want to hear from walkers who were on the promenade that morning,” she said.

Family Appeal and Support

Brigid’s family is working closely with police and has appealed for information to help bring her home. Officers are providing regular updates and support to her loved ones as the search continues.

How to Help

If you see Brigid, please call 999 immediately. Anyone with information about her whereabouts should contact Sussex Police on 101, quoting Operation Manhattan.

Police urge the community to share this information widely to aid in the search for Brigid.
