On Sunday afternoon, the Shoreham all-weather lifeboat was launched in response to an emergency beacon activation located southeast of Shoreham.
Upon investigation, it was determined that the activation was linked to a registered yacht.
HM Coastguard successfully established communication with the yacht’s crew, who confirmed that the activation was accidental.
The lifeboat was in close proximity to the vessel at the time and approached it to ensure all was in order on board.
Ultimately, the emergency call was made with good intent, and there were no actual emergencies or distress situations involved.
