Sussex Dealer Sentenced After Failed Attempt to Hide Drugs

Kent Police Traced Illegal Drug Supply Back to Sussex

A county line drug dealer based in Sussex who attempted to swallow his stash as officers arrested him has been sentenced to prison.

In November 2024, Kent Police identified two phone numbers linked to an organised crime group supplying crack cocaine and heroin to users in Medway. Investigations led officers to Leesean Francis, who was responsible for drug transactions.

Tracked Down On January 23, 2025, officers located Francis at an address in St Leonards-on-Sea. As he was arrested, he attempted to swallow a packet of crack cocaine and heroin, which he had concealed in his underwear. Officers prevented him from doing so and recovered a mobile phone during the arrest.

Francis, of Moorland Road, Brixton, London, was charged and later pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court to being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin, as well as possession of heroin with intent to supply.

Sentencing On February 25, the 25-year-old was sentenced to four years and ten months in prison.

Detective Constable Hannah Hills, who led the investigation, stated:

“These dealers need to understand that as soon as they try to supply class A drugs in Kent, we will find out about their criminal enterprise and take steps to identify them. It is then only a matter of time before they get a visit from one of our enforcement teams and they are swiftly charged and brought to justice.”

Kent Police continue to crack down on county line drug operations, urging the public to report any suspicious activity.
