Sussex Police are urging witnesses to come forward following an assault on a 17-year-old boy on the Eastbourne Promenade. The incident occurred between 4:05 pm and 4:20 pm on November 10, near the area between the pier and the bandstand.
The assault, which involved a group of seven boys and young men, resulted in the victim sustaining a hand injury consistent with a stabbing. The teenager, who was with two friends at the time, sought treatment at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead and has since been discharged.
Six Arrests Made in Connection with the Assault
Six suspects, aged between 14 and 20, have been arrested in connection with the incident, including one individual on suspicion of wounding with intent. All the suspects have been released on bail under strict conditions as police continue their investigation.
The assault occurred in a busy section of the lower Promenade during daylight hours, and officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area or witnessed the incident.
Increased Patrols for Public Reassurance
In the wake of the attack, Sussex Police have intensified patrols along the Promenade to ensure public safety and to gather more information about the assault. The area, frequented by residents and visitors alike, was bustling at the time of the incident, prompting authorities to emphasize the importance of witness accounts.
“This occurred in a well-trafficked area during daylight, and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen what happened or has relevant information to come forward,” a police spokesperson stated.
