Police are appealing for information following a series of escalating attacks on TanTastic, a newly opened tanning salon in Worthing. The most recent incident, a suspected arson, set the business ablaze on October 21st, causing extensive damage and displacing residents in the flat above. Nearby businesses also suffered smoke damage, adding to the community impact.
The salon has now posted CCTV footage and a video from the scene in hopes of identifying those responsible. In an effort to encourage leads, TanTastic has offered a £5000 reward for information leading to an arrest. This fire is the latest in a series of targeted attacks since the salon’s opening just a few months ago, creating an environment of fear and frustration for the owners and community alike.
The timeline of attacks began less than a month ago:
- September 30th: The first incident involved a break-in where intruders wielded sledgehammers and paint to wreak havoc inside the store.
- October 13th: The salon was struck again, this time with a hammer smashing the windows.
- October 21st: The most recent and devastating incident—a fire that has left the business in ruins and endangered lives.
The owners, who travel to Worthing from outside the area, are deeply saddened and overwhelmed by the series of events. “It’s heartbreaking to see our hard work destroyed, especially knowing that innocent lives were put at risk,” they shared, emphasising their commitment to rebuilding but expressing dismay over the safety risks.
The salon’s video footage, now shared widely, captures the heartbreaking aftermath and is intended to raise awareness and hopefully identify those behind these attacks. Anyone with information is urged to come forward to help prevent further harm and bring those responsible to justice.
TanTastic’s owners have assured their loyal customers and community members that, despite the setback, they plan to rebuild and continue offering their services in Worthing once it is safe to do so.
