Earlier today, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) were mobilised to Court Farm Road in Newhaven after reports of a smoldering bin lorry. The incident required the bin lorry to empty its contents on the road, allowing fire service personnel and bin lorry workers to extinguish and then locate and remove the source of the fire.
The cause of the smoldering was identified as an old laptop, highlighting the dangers of improper disposal of electrical items.
In response to this incident, Lewes District Council, in conjunction with the fire service, is reminding residents about the importance of correctly disposing of electrical items and batteries. These items can be recycled at various locations across Sussex. For more information on recycling electricals, visit Recycle Your Electricals.
