Yacht with engine failure rescued off Pett Slip

A 37-foot yacht experiencing engine failure four miles southeast of Pett Slip triggered a response from rescue teams yesterday morning.

At 10:35 a.m., the UK Coastguard tasked the Pett Level Independent Rescue Boat (PLIRB) to respond to a distress signal, known as a Pan Pan, from the yacht. With six passengers on board and unable to navigate, the situation demanded swift action to ensure their safety.

Despite launching at low tide, the PLIRB team reached the stricken vessel in just 20 minutes. The yacht, stranded amidst open water, was quickly secured by the John Pulfer Rescue Boat.

The initial tow was directed towards Hastings. Upon nearing the coast, the RNLI Hastings Lifeboat Station team took over, ensuring a smooth and safe final recovery to Eastbourne.

All passengers are reported safe and unharmed
