76-Year-Old Charged with Historic Sexual Offences in Hastings

Alleged offences occurred in the 1990s and 2000s

A 76-year-old man has been charged with historic sexual offences in Hastings, Sussex Police have confirmed. Keith Chaplin, formerly an electrician of Kingsley Close, St Leonards, faces four charges following an investigation by the Hastings Community Investigation team.

The charges include one count of indecent assault on a boy under the age of 16 and three counts of sexual assault on a male. The alleged offences took place in the 1990s and 2000s.

Two victims, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, separately reported their experiences to Sussex Police. The victims are not known to each other.

Chaplin was arrested and is scheduled to appear before Hastings Magistrates’ Court on October 23 to answer the charges.
