Crawley Park Sexual Assault Report Leads to Arrest and Police Appeal

Incident reported near M23; police urge anyone with info to come forward.

A man has been arrested following a third-party report of a sexual assault on a woman in a remote section of Tilgate Park, Crawley.

The incident is believed to have taken place in a wooded area in the southernmost part of the park, near the M23 motorway, at around 4.10pm on Thursday (April 10).

The suspect, a 42-year-old man from Crawley, was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. He has since been released on bail with strict conditions, pending further investigation, until July 11.

At this stage, no victim has been identified. Sussex Police have emphasised the importance of ensuring the welfare of anyone who may have been involved and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

A spokesperson said: “We are working to establish the full circumstances of this incident and would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in or around Tilgate Park at the time.”
