17-Year-Old Charged with Rape on Eastbourne Beach

Teen faces court after alleged attack near Eastbourne bandstand on 9 August.

A 17-year-old boy from Eastbourne has been charged with the rape of a woman on Eastbourne beach, an incident that occurred in the early hours of Friday, 9 August. Due to his age, the defendant cannot be named for legal reasons.

The attack took place near the bandstand, a popular landmark in Eastbourne. Following the incident, the victim has been receiving support from specially trained officers, ensuring she has access to the care and assistance needed during this difficult time.

The defendant was formally charged with rape and has been remanded in custody. He is scheduled to appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court today, 12 August.

Detectives are actively investigating the case and have appealed to the public for any information that could assist in their inquiries. Anyone with relevant details is urged to report it online or call 101, quoting Operation Bagstone.
