Update: Two arrested after £17,000 of watches stolen in smash and grab burglary in Lewes

On Sunday 4th December at around 3am a thieve smashed the window of the Cliffe Antique Centre in Lewes. Where they targeted a cabinet of vintage watches.

All 12 watches in the cabinet were stolen. They had been valued at around £17,000. Nothing else was taken in the break-in.

The shop said on social media “One of the items is one of a kind so you won’t find another like them so at some point we hope they will turn up.”

Police are appealing for witnesses to a burglary at the Cliffe Antiques Centre in Cliffe High Street, Lewes.

At around 3.25am on Sunday, December 4, officers were called to the antique shop and confirmed a break-in at the premises.

A number of antique OMEGA watches had been stolen, to the value of £17,000.

A 57-year-old man and a 32-year-old man from Lewes have been arrested on suspicion of burglary. They have both been bailed until March 4.

Crime Investigator George Shannon said: “We would really like to hear from anyone who has any CCTV or doorbell footage, in particular from anyone who lives in Cliffe High Street and adjoining Malling Street.”
