84 Year Old Man Targeted in Eastbourne ATM Distraction Theft

Incident occurred on 10 June between 2:00pm and 2:30pm.

Police in Eastbourne are keen to speak to two individuals in connection with a distraction theft at an ATM in Langney. The incident occurred inside the Langney shopping centre between 2:00pm and 2:30pm on 10 June.

An 84-year-old man was using the ATM when an unknown person informed him that he had dropped some of his cash. As the elderly man bent down to retrieve the supposed fallen money, his bank card was removed from the machine.

Later that same day, nearly ÂŁ1000 was fraudulently used against the victim’s bank card. This significant loss has prompted a swift investigation by local authorities.

Sussex Police have released images of two individuals they believe may have crucial information regarding the theft. They are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying these individuals or providing any information that could help with the investigation.

“We are keen to speak to those pictured who may be able to help with our investigations,” a Sussex Police spokesperson said. “If you know the identity of those pictured, please contact police online or by calling 101 quoting 47240110671.”
