A27 Shoreham Road Closure Lifted After Fatal Fall Incident

The man's death led to hours of road closures, with police confirming no suspicious circumstances

A tragic incident led to the closure of the A27 in both directions at Shoreham earlier today, Sussex Police have confirmed. Authorities initially withheld details about the nature of the incident but have now released further information.

The road closure, which was in place on the eastbound carriageway between the Lancing Manor roundabout and Hangleton, as well as the westbound section from the Holmbush roundabout to the Shoreham flyover, has now been lifted. The closure had caused significant disruption to traffic, with long delays in the area, but the situation has since eased as the road has reopened.

Sussex Police confirmed that a 28-year-old man from Brighton sadly died at the scene following a fall from the Mill Hill Road bridge. His next of kin have been informed. Authorities have stated that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident, and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner.

Emergency services, including police and paramedics, attended the scene, working to understand the circumstances of the incident. The A27 closure lasted for several hours while they conducted their investigation.

Drivers are advised that the A27 is now fully reopened, but they should remain mindful of residual traffic in the area.
