In an incident that unfolded this evening in Polegate, police are urgently calling for witnesses after a 17-year-old boy was stabbed and left with potentially life-threatening injuries. The attack occurred on Wannock Road around 9 p.m., prompting a swift response from emergency services.

Upon their arrival, paramedics treated the teenager at the scene before rushing him to the hospital. Authorities have confirmed that the boy’s family is aware of the situation, as an intense investigation kicks off to apprehend those responsible.

To facilitate the ongoing investigation, Wannock Road along with High Street have been temporarily closed. Residents can expect an increased police presence as officers comb through the area for evidence and any leads.

Chief Inspector Andy Nicklin expressed the gravity of the situation, stating, “This incident is being treated with the seriousness it deserves and a thorough investigation has been launched to gather evidence and locate any suspects.” He acknowledged the impact such an incident could have on the community, appreciating the public’s patience and cooperation during this critical time.

The police are urging anyone who may have seen something unusual or possesses any pertinent CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage around the time of the incident to come forward. Witnesses or those with relevant information are encouraged to contact the police at 101, quoting Operation Hutch, to assist in the investigation.
