Brighton Pride 2024: Essential Travel Information

Extra Trains, Special Bus Services, and Road Closures Detailed for Festival Weekend

With the Brighton Pride Festival set to conclude at 10:30 PM on Saturday, August 3, 2024, large crowds are expected to stay for the headline artists. Festival-goers are advised to plan their journey in advance, especially if leaving the city that night.

By Train:

Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR), operating Southern, Thameslink, and Gatwick Express services, is collaborating with Brighton & Hove Pride organisers, Sussex Police, Brighton & Hove City Council, and other partners to ensure smooth travel during the Pride weekend. More trains and extra carriages will be available to accommodate the increased number of passengers.

Travelers should note:

  • Allow extra time for travel as trains will be busy, and boarding the first service may not be possible.
  • Give yourself at least an hour to get to Brighton station from any festival site.
  • Purchase train tickets in advance to speed up the process.
  • For safety reasons, glass bottles or containers are not permitted at the station or on trains.

Brighton station will feature a rainbow queuing system:

  • Green Queue: East Coastway (towards Lewes, Seaford, Eastbourne)
  • Purple Queue: West Coastway (towards Shoreham-by-Sea, Worthing, Chichester)
  • Blue Queue: Brighton Main Line (towards Haywards Heath, Gatwick Airport, London)

Preston Park and London Road (Brighton) stations will be closed all weekend. For updates, check the Southern or Thameslink websites and their social media feeds. Plan your journeys at National Rail.

Traveling to Brighton by Bus:

From West Sussex, use routes 270, 271, 272, and 273. From East Sussex areas like Lewes or Eastbourne, use Regency routes 28 and 29 or Coaster routes 11X, 12, 12A, 12X, and 13X.

Brighton & Hove Buses’ Diversity Bus will shuttle attendees between the city centre and Preston Park on Saturday. Metrobus special service 500 will link Preston Park, Old Steine, and Kemp Town. Service 600 will transport campers from Waterhall Campsite to Old Steine.

Contactless payments are accepted on all Brighton & Hove and Metrobus buses. For bus service updates and diversions, check the Brighton & Hove Buses and Metrobus websites and social media.

National Express offers hourly services from London Victoria and other UK destinations.

By Car:

Expect significant road closures on Pride day. There is no parking at Preston Park or nearby, and parking on Madeira Drive is restricted. Parking in central Brighton is limited and expensive; public transport is recommended.
