Brighton Prom Night Rescue Ends with Teens in Hospital

In a coordinated response last night 26/06/23 just before Midnight, Shoreham Coastguard, Newhaven Coastguard, RNLI Brighton, SECAMB, and Sussex Police were dispatched to a distress call involving two individuals who had entered the water opposite Brighton Zip wire.

The two casualties, who were celebrating their Prom night, encountered difficulties after entering the sea. Fortunately, they managed to self-rescue and make it back to shore.

Upon reaching the beach, first responders administered first aid until the arrival of SECAMB. The medical team stabilised the casualties before transferring them from the beach to an awaiting ambulance. The individuals were then taken to Brighton A&E for further treatment and assessment.

This incident highlights the importance of caution when near the coast. If you see anyone in trouble along the coast, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard 🚨.
