Born in 1933, David began his illustrious career in the 1960s, forming the duo The Trollettes alongside James Court. The pair quickly gained a following, performing at renowned venues such as The Black Cap and the Royal Vauxhall Tavern (RVT). Maisie Trollette became a staple of the LGBTQ+ cabaret scene, with packed audiences regularly gathering to see her perform at The Two Brewers, where she was a beloved fixture.
