Coastguard Mobilises Coastguard and RNLI in Nighttime Search

Eastbourne RNLI volunteer crew was called into action on the evening of January 29th. At 9:20 pm, the Solent Coastguard issued a directive to launch two lifeboats for a search and rescue mission.

Responding promptly, the team launched the D Class Inshore lifeboat ‘David H’ from Fishermans Green and the Trent Class All-weather lifeboat ‘Henry Heys Ducksworth’ from Sovereign Harbour. These well-equipped vessels quickly were reported on service.

The tasking was a coordinated effort involving multiple agencies. Alongside Eastbourne’s lifeboats were the Newhaven lifeboat, Coastguard Helicopter 163, local coastguard teams, and police units.

After an extensive and thorough search, the operation was eventually called off, with no findings reported.
