Crawley Man Arrested After Rooftop Standoff on Broomdashers Road

24-year-old taken into custody after window ledge standoff in Broomdashers Road

A man has been safely arrested following a rooftop incident that unfolded on Broomdashers Road.

On the morning of Tuesday, 20 May, Sussex Police officers were executing a warrant at an address when a 24-year-old man climbed onto a window ledge in an apparent attempt to evade arrest.

To ensure the safety of the man, officers, and members of the public, a road closure and safety cordon were swiftly put in place.

After a period of negotiation and careful handling, the man – who is from Crawley – was safely brought down and taken into custody.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said:

“We would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while the incident was ongoing.”

No injuries were reported, and enquiries into the matter are continuing.
