Armed officers and drone deployed; no firearm or suspects found.

Yesterday 6th June 2024, Eastbourne Police were alerted to reports of a man in possession of a possible firearm on a public footpath near Hill Road. The incident prompted a swift and robust response to ensure the safety of the public.

Armed officers were immediately deployed to the area to conduct thorough searches, with the assistance of a police drone. Despite extensive efforts, no persons or firearms were located during these searches.

“We are relieved to report that no injuries have been sustained,” said a spokesperson for Eastbourne Police. “However, we urge the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity immediately.”

Members of the public can report concerns online or via the non-emergency number 101, quoting Operation Sealion. In an emergency, residents should call 999.
