Firefighters Battle Blaze in Heathfield: One Casualty Reported

Blaze Breaks Out on Frenches Farm Drive at 16:07

At 16:07 today, emergency services were called to a significant fire at Frenches Farm Drive, Heathfield. East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) initially deployed six fire appliances to the scene to tackle the blaze.

Initial Response

Firefighters utilized a hose reel and a main jet to combat the fire, which required a coordinated effort due to its intensity. One casualty was reported and has since been handed over to the care of the ambulance service. The individual’s condition has not been disclosed at this time.

In addition to ESFRS, the scene saw a multi-agency response with police, ambulance services, and UK Power Networks working collaboratively to manage the situation and ensure public safety.

Update at 18:00

By 18:00, ESFRS had successfully scaled back their presence to two fire appliances. These crews will remain on site for several hours to monitor and address any lingering hot spots, ensuring the fire does not reignite.

Community Impact

The incident caused disruption in the area as emergency services managed the response. Residents are advised to avoid the vicinity while operations continue.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
