Firefighters Battle Roof Blaze in Brighton

On November 14, 2023, at 3.03pm, the East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to a fire in a house located on Hawkhurst Road, Brighton. The fire, reported to be in the roof of the building.

By 3:25 pm, the scene was attended by six fire engines, an aerial ladder platform, and multiple officers. Firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus, actively engaged in tackling the blaze. The severity of the situation necessitated the closure of the surrounding area, with residents advised to keep windows and doors shut to avoid smoke inhalation.

Fortunately, there have been no injuries reported in connection with the incident.

As of 4.20pm, the fire and rescue team continued their efforts at the scene. The focus shifted to damping down and thoroughly checking the structure to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.

By 6:00 pm, the firefighting operations had concluded, and plans were made for a reinspection around 7:00 pm to ensure the building’s safety. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
