Hammer-Wielding Robber Strikes Twice in Shoreham

Police launch urgent appeal after armed suspect targets two shops in early morning crime spree.

Police are appealing for help to identify a man suspected of carrying out two robberies in Shoreham yesterday morning (Saturday, 10 May).

The first incident occurred just after 7am at the Co-op in Ham Road, where a man entered the store armed with a hammer and threatened staff before fleeing with a quantity of cash.

Shortly afterwards, a second incident was reported at Shoreham News in nearby Buckingham Road. In this case, a man matching the same description is said to have threatened staff and attempted to steal cigarettes. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in either case.

The suspect is described as white, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, of large and stocky build, with copper-coloured hair. He was wearing a black hoodie, black tracksuit bottoms, and black trainers at the time of the incidents.

Police believe the two incidents are linked and are actively pursuing lines of enquiry.

Anyone who recognises the man or has any information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact police immediately by calling 999 and quoting serial 270 of 10/05.
