The University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust has successfully exited the Critical Incident status as significant advancements were made overnight in restoring the IT systems. This marks a positive turnaround after the disruptive events affecting various hospitals over the weekend.

Patients with pre-scheduled appointments for today are advised to proceed as planned. The Trust emphasizes that appointments should be kept unless patients receive direct communication from the hospital staff to do otherwise. In a return to normalcy, Emergency Departments are now open to receive patients as usual. However, the public is urged to be mindful that all hospital teams are currently dealing with additional pressures due to the recent IT challenges.

In non-emergency situations, or for health issues that are not life-threatening, the Trust advises individuals to seek guidance through 111.nhs.uk or call 111. This approach will help in managing the patient flow and ensure that emergency services are reserved for those in critical need.

The Trust extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in the swift response and effective resolution of the crisis. Special acknowledgments are given to the IT and Facilities and Estates teams, clinical staff, the South East Coast Ambulance Service, and other NHS Trusts and partners.
