A little sheep with a big heart is rolling into a brighter future thanks to the kindness of animal lovers across the country.
Hope, a Wiltshire Horn ewe, was rescued just two weeks ago by Lotus Lamb and Sheep Sanctuary in West Sussex, run by founder Hayley. When she arrived, Hope was in an unimaginable state—severely malnourished, dehydrated, and unable to stand. Her skeletal frame and fragile condition shocked even experienced vets.
“She’s one of the worst cases of neglect and abuse we’ve ever seen,” Hayley shared. “She could barely lift her head. But we saw something in her eyes—she hadn’t given up. And neither would we.”
The sanctuary team launched an emergency appeal to raise £672 for a specialist animal wheelchair from Wheels for Dogs, which would give Hope the support she needs to move again and enjoy a pain-free life.
The response was overwhelming.
“Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, we hit our goal—and Hope’s wheels are on the way!” said Hayley. “We’re beyond grateful. Your donations have given her a second chance at life.”
The Lotus Lamb and Sheep Sanctuary specialises in rescuing animals from severe abuse and neglect, offering them a forever home filled with care, compassion, and rehabilitation.
“Hope has already made huge progress, and with her new wheels, we can make sure she continues to thrive,” Hayley added. “Every animal deserves love, comfort, and dignity—and now Hope will get just that.”
