Littlehampton man acquitted of sexual assault charge

Gulahmad Oryakhail, 21, acquitted after teenage girl reported incident at Maltravers Leisure Park

A 21-year-old man from Littlehampton has been acquitted of sexual assault following a trial at Portsmouth Crown Court.

Gulahmad Oryakhail had been charged after a teenage girl reported being sexually assaulted on 25 October 2024 in the Maltravers Leisure Park area of Littlehampton. He was subsequently remanded in custody ahead of the trial.

At a hearing on Friday, 2 May, a jury found Oryakhail not guilty.

The teenage girl received support from specially trained officers throughout the investigation.

Following the verdict, Detective Constable Frances Block said: “I would like to commend the bravery of the girl in this investigation for reporting to police and supporting the process through to its conclusion.

“If you are a victim of sexual offending, please report it to us in the confidence we will listen to you, we will support you, and we will do everything we can to get you justice.”

Support services for victims of serious sexual offences are available online via official police and support organisation websites.
