Major Fire in Staplecross: Eight Fire Engines Called to Northiam Road Blaze

Firefighters battle large house fire in East Sussex village as residents told to stay indoors and roads closed

A major fire broke out in the early hours of this morning at a domestic property on Northiam Road in Staplecross, with flames spreading to nearby buildings.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were alerted at 4.20am and initially sent eight fire engines to tackle the blaze. By 7.45am, the incident was being scaled back to six appliances as crews continued to bring the situation under control.

Firefighters are using breathing apparatus, three main jets, a hosereel jet, two fire hydrants, and a water bowser in the ongoing operation. Road closures are in place and the public is being urged to avoid the area. Residents living nearby are also advised to keep all windows and doors shut due to the smoke.
