Man, 47, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder as woman hospitalized in “serious condition”

A 47-year-old man from Newhaven has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was found with serious injuries in Brighton.

According to police reports, emergency services were called to Cowley Drive just before 5pm on Thursday (30 March) following concerns for the welfare of a woman. The woman, whose identity has not been released, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the hospital in a serious condition.

Detective Chief Inspector Alex Campbell has stated: “This is a fast-moving investigation and the public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area. “There is not believed to any wider risk to the public and we are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident at this time.”

The suspect, who has not yet been identified, remains in police custody at this time. The police are urging anyone with information that may assist the investigation to come forward by contacting them online or calling 101, quoting Operation Bradwall.

The police have not released any further details about the incident or the condition of the victim at this time.
