Man Arrested After Attempted Robberies at Pharmacies

Sussex police have apprehended a 42-year-old man following a series of attempted robberies at local pharmacies in Pevensey and Eastbourne, sparking unease among the community.

The suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, allegedly threatened pharmacy staff with a knife during his crimes. The incidents occurred on Saturday, 27 April, at two well-known locations: Boots Pharmacy on Eastbourne Road in Pevensey, and Kamsons Pharmacy on Victoria Avenue in Eastbourne.

According to police reports, the man demanded drugs at both pharmacies. His attempt at Boots was thwarted when a brave customer intervened, causing him to flee empty-handed. However, he successfully stole medications from Kamsons Pharmacy shortly thereafter. Fortunately, there were no physical injuries reported in either case.

Chief Inspector Andy Nicklin said: “Whilst we understand that incidents like this are traumatic for staff, we have made numerous visits to pharmacies in the area to provide additional crime prevention advice and reassurance. We have worked hard to quickly identify the suspect and promptly make an arrest.”

Anyone who witnessed the incidents is asked to report online or ring 101 quoting serial 901 of 27/04.
