Man Arrested After Photographing Children Outside Hove School

A 21-year-old man remains in custody after being arrested on Belfast Street.

A man has been arrested after reportedly taking photographs of children outside a school in Hove, Sussex.

Sussex Police confirmed they were called at around 3.30pm on Wednesday, April 2, to Belfast Street, following concerns from members of the public about suspicious behaviour near the school gates.

Officers swiftly attended the scene and located a man matching the suspect’s description. A 21-year-old from Hove was arrested within 20 minutes of the call being made.

He was arrested on suspicion of recording under clothing without consent and stalking. The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.

Chief Inspector Simon Marchant of the Neighbourhood Policing Team said:

“We understand that incidents like this cause significant concern in the community, and we want to reassure the public that this matter has been treated with the utmost seriousness.

“A full investigation was launched immediately, and a man was detained within 20 minutes of the initial report.

“Our officers continue to patrol the area to maintain a visible presence, and we encourage anyone with concerns to speak with them or make a report.”
