Man goes Missing near Brighton Pier, extensive search effort Launched

Shoreham RNLI all-weather lifeboat was launched at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday morning after reports came in of a man entering the water near Brighton Palace Pier and subsequently encountering difficulties.

The Shoreham lifeboat crew was joined by teams from Brighton and Newhaven RNLI, the Coastguard rescue helicopter, and a Coastguard search fixed-wing plane. In addition, multiple coastguard rescue teams and Sussex police officers mobilised for an extensive air, sea, and land search operation.

For a painstaking seven hours, the combined search teams combed the waters offshore and scoured the shoreline stretching from Hove Lawns to Brighton Marina.

Despite their tireless efforts, no sign of the missing individual was found.
